Turkish government gets tough on football

The Turkish parliament has approved legislation aimed at fighting hooliganism at football matches and other sports events.

The new law provides harsher punishment for football fans; they can be sentenced to 2-year imprisonment for chanting obscenities and racial slurs during the matches and 1 year for spectators who bring guns, sharp objects or flares to matches.

I bet if such a rule was introduced in the UK for both fans and players, Wayne Rooney will think twice about how to celebrate his goals.
