US reality TV 'stars' head to Bodrum

Bodrum's dumbing down.

Twenty-eight US reality TV 'celebrities' are poised to head to the popular Turkish holiday home resort to compete in MTV's long-running competition show The Challenge.

The 'stars' are all former contestants of MTV's The Real World, a Big Brotheresque show in which a group of strangers live together and compete to be the last to be voted off.

The Challenge, which starts next month, will see the contestants completing a series of tasks to stay in the game in order to win $250,000.

None of the contestants look particularly sharp, and one can be heard in the trailer stating that "These people really are as dumb as they look."

MTV has no doubt been attracted by Bodrum's rising popularity in the wake of visits from Rihanna, Salma Hayak, Tom Cruise and others. But do we really need these people in Bodrum? I think not.
