Russians replace Germans as number One Turkey holiday takers

Latest figures show that the number one tourists to visit Turkey are Russians; German tourists who were previously ranked number one Turkey holiday makers are now in decline.

The proportion of tourists coming to Turkey from Russia having increased from 17 to 27 per cent whiles it looks like German tourists have had their day in the sun. In 2004, more than 2.5 million German tourists visited resort towns such as Antalya and Fethiye however 2005 saw the start of a continuous decline in the number of German’s visiting Turkey. As of now, Russian tourists constitute the largest percentage of guests on southern Turkey holidays.

The decline of German tourists on Turkey holidays is blamed on the decline of the Euro whiles economic growth in Eastern Europe means Russians have more disposable income and look for new experiences in Turkey.
